Sarah Freligh is one of those legendary writers whose work has gone to the moon, and whose writing is original and grounded. Her newest work, Other Emergencies, is a gem. Until recently, she taught classes online. Though she’s phasing out that work, her “Six Rules for Becoming a Writer” are essential and inspiring.

Her stories have been published widely in journals such as Prairie Schooner and New Letters. Most recently, her story was a finalist for The Missouri Review’s Perkoff Prize. She teaches writing at the University of Minnesota.
